NCTE Supports HB235 IN MARYLAND?

March 15, 2011 ·

It would seem so.  Though they’ve been silent publicly, one only need look as far as NCTE Executive Director’s Facebook wall:

Now if the Executive Director of Maryland Equality (Morgan Meneses-Sheets) is thanking Keisling, I’d suggest that Keisling supports the bill. Or you could just look at this picture:

Any questions?

If You Dig Michfest, You're NOT a Trans Ally

Trans and Stealth

I used to be pretty arrogant about the whole stealth vs. out thing.  Today reading Dyssonance's To Stealth Or Not To Stealth, I had to reflect on how my perspective has changed, and not. I've worked jobs where no one…

  1. Nikki, I think you should lay off the the NCTE Kool Aid. You don’t like the fact the unapologetically Black trans woman called Mara out, too damned bad

  2. I love Mara Keisling and have tons of respect for her. I appreciate your commentary but I have to say that I would probably tend to support Mara’s position knowing her as a person who understands politics and is a person who has integrity and is totally supportive of our community being one of us.
Monica, I think you should lay off of Mara.

    1. why do you single out Monica Nikki ? Its quite true that Mara is a sell out – the bill is worthless without Public Accommodations and the NCTE depends on People who are uninformed about “the rest of the story and the history ” to send in their money to keep them employed – Mara no more understands politics than any other person. SHE of all people ought to be protesting the loudest to be a true advocate. Instead she collects 80 grand a year to send the message that its OK to leave out Public Accommodations and give Transgender people crumbs of incremental legislation WHICH never works. We don’t want a bad bill ,a bad bill is worse than NO bill. A quisling by the way is a sell out , a traitor to the cause etc. Its nothing personal , its just that the NCTE that so many depend on IS not doing all it could and should to stand up for those they claim to represent and that IS a problem. Monica is not the only person to say this , its wrong of you to pick on her vs. every other truth teller. just sayin.

    2. 1. This isn’t about who you love or who you like. It’s about TRANS PEOPLE’S LIVES.
      2. If Mara “understood” politics, John McCain would know who she is.
      3. Mara is NOT supporting the community “totally.

If you want to be a lemming and not know the facts, that’s your choice. If you want to be clueless. Again, your choice.

    3. “I would probably tend to support Mara’s position knowing her as a person who understands politics….”

      Ask her about John McCain.

  3. who is this Quisling person anyway?

and I would just like to say if you look at NCTE’s FB page at their current second post down, they said:
National Center for Transgender Equality: “Beth, thanks. I did delete your first and accidentally deleted your second. You may repost the second. I should note that the petition [about asking for HB235 to be amended to had PA] does not reflect NCTE’s position, btu you are welcome to repost it.”
so yeah, they support HB235 as is, without amending it to add PA.

  4. sheesh , what a f****ing waste of time and money seriously – with “friends” like this ??? who needs enemies. No wonder the legislators are confused. God dammit this is unacceptable – this is not a friend to the Trans community and this is the group that most trans people depend on to speak and lobby
for them – bad bad bad !! –

  5. I support the elimination of NCTE (right along with HRC; when the brain dies, the asshole goes with it, no?) as entities – and I demand that The Quisling be forced to try to find a real job.
