Dear friend(s)
BANGALORE PROTEST DETAILS:
Time: 5 PM
Date: 9th January, 2006, Monday
Place: Mahatma Gandhi Statue, MG Road
Most of you are aware about the homophobic and moralistic attitudes
of Lucknow Police, that lead to the arrest of 4 gay/bisexual men in
Lucknow under Section 377 of the Indian Penal Code. In the FIR
Police have mentioned 13 more people’s names and mobile phone
numbers. This has created fear and panic among sexuality minorities
in Lucknow – many of them have gone underground and Bharosa’s
(an NGO providing HIV/AIDS/sexual health services to
homosexual/bisexual men in Lucknow) outreach work is severely
affected.
We are organising a PEACEFUL PUBLIC PROTEST in Bangalore to demand:
- 1. Immediate release of the arrested people
- 2. Immediate suspension of Police Officials involved
in these arrests - 3. Punishing the guilty Police Officials after conducting an
immediate enquiry for their illegal and unconstitutional
actions including keeping people in illegal detention,
filing false charges and for violating ‘Right to Privacy’ - 4. UP Government to take urgent steps to protect human rights and
to stop moral policing
Please join us in large numbers
