Felicity Gets It!

There are so many negative stereotypes when it comes to transgender people, it’s a beautiful thing when someone not only “gets it,” but also stands up proudly and puts down those stereotypes. That’s exactly what Felicity Huffman did when she won a Golden Globe for her portrayal of Bree in the movie “TransAmerica.”

Accepting her award, she said:

“I know as actors our job is usually to shed our skins, but I think as people our job is to become who we really are and so I would like to salute the men and women who brave ostracism, alienation and a life lived on the margins to become who they really are.”

Previously, with an interview with Hanh Nguyen of Zap2it.com, Mrs. Huffman said:

“Either you feel alienated from yourself or you actually do it and you’re alienated from society – you’re an oddball. It usually takes until you’re a little older to go, `I don’t care. I have to really be who I am.”

I couldn’t of said it better myself.
